You can get it taken out at anytime. As far as I know they inject an aesthetic to numb the area and then make a small slit to slide the implant in. I assume the put a stitch in or use sticky stitches on the slit? LadyLightning will be able to say more. =]

Plethorian - Yeah you can just get it taken out whenever you want if it doesn't agree with you, or you just don't want it any more.
For me, the hormones are fine. If anything I generally feel much more level overall. The day before an infrequent period arrives I feel a little upset and don't know why until the next day I'm like "Ah. Surprise Period, hello there." I much prefer this to feeling off kelter every single month, but everyone's different and all that.
Tiiiiny procedure. They make a little cut in your arm (after numbing it - you feel nothing), slip the implant in and cover it with a bit of cotton wool and some tape. That's it. The cut is so small they don't even need to stitch it or anything. It's a tad sore when you bump it for the first couple of days but other than that you'd never know it was there. x

This was one of my choices after the injection! Good to read on it, the only thing that put me off was being able to feel it afterwards aheh
Good to know about the incision!

Just thought I would post here my experience with the implant.
I got it in November. The procedure was so quick and nearly painless. The scary part is that I had to do a pregnancy test before it could be inserted and though I knew I wasn't, it was still a bit nerve racking!
As LL said, sore for a few days. For about a month afterwards I would feel a few pains in the area, like sharp stabbing pains. I didn't think too much of it.
I had my first period on it which has been really light and more like spotting (I just use a pantyliner and change it before I sleep and when I wake up - though that often is more for freshness than for the amount of blood). Like I said, it's more continual spotting - the blood is mostly quite dark. This has currently lasted 18 days, and counting.
Otherwise, my skin has been a nightmare this past month. I suppose that it could just be related to the spotting, elevated hormones? But it could be that my body is still getting use to it.
My mum said that it has made me really moody, and I guess that might be true, but I honestly think that a large part of my mood is due to my life situation and because she was driving me CRAZY.
Also, I have gained weight, particularly a muffin top. Now, I don't really know if this is related because like I said, I haven't been in a great life situation and so my diet hasn't been particularly good. However, I have also been going to gym classes regularly and up until about November, I was mostly loosing weight. Like I said, it might not be related, it might be.
So, I think that is it. My mum thinks that I should get it taken out. That it is making me moody and messing up my skin and so it isn't worth it, but I want to preserve with it as I think my body will get use to it and settle down. If it could settle down before July (when I get married) then I would be REALLY grateful.
