I posted this as an ask but I need help asap and thought I might get a more immediate response here.
Hey ladies! I got my legs waxed for the first time today (yay) and my legs are so sore and blotchy red! They put some cream on afterwards but I haven't done anything because I didn't want to aggravate them. Not even cleaned the wax off for fear of scrubbing. Tips and advice would be reallllly welcome. =]
Thank yoooooo

WAXING IS FANTASTIC!!!!
Right. Now that that's out of my system. Don't worry there's always a bit of excess wax. Just don't have a super hot shower or bath until tomorrow - that can aggravate the skin.
Where did you get it done? Sometimes depending on the skill of the waxer it can be more blotchy and red at the end (depends how they rip the strip off).
Just leave your legs to recover and they should be non-blotchy and silky smooth in no time =D x

I got it done and a nice but cheap place. (£12.50 for 3/4 legs)
If it helps to explain the sort of person doing it - she waxed one of my feet, but forgot to do the other. =/
I really don't know what to do about that. It's not exactly noticeable, but I KNOW and that's annoying.
Alright. I went with my mum who said it was only the hotness of the wax which hurt and her legs didn't go red AT ALL. But her leg hair is really fine so blah to her. I did just assume that it was a fairly normal thing but I didn't know if I was suppose to do something specific if it does go red (creams, cool water etc).

I used to shave and be a BIG, HAIRY BEAST. With teflon leg hair that felt like a cactus. So when I first started waxing it hurt a bit. But now my hair has thinned immensely, and it's just a huge improvement even if I leave my legs alone for 2 weeks they look better than they did even the day after shaving previously.
So yeah. Waxing. I promote it big time, if you can afford to keep doing it regularly. =) x

I've waxed for over half a decade and my shins still go red and blotchy (if were talking about hair folicils) I assume its just where pores are tighter and so it causes more friction when waxing! Nothing to worry about! I hot tub/swim/gym the same day now and it has no affect which i assume is because my skin is used to it! It will get better and less painful and quicker and the hair will thin out massively! Though, sounds like you could find a new waxist! They differ massively (in pain, price and affect!) YAY waxing

Sorry I got to this thread late, Shadow! I waxed my legs professionally for the first time this summer, and the exact same thing happened to me. There's really not much you can do, it's just your skin's natural response. I put moisturizing and soothing cream on them frequently, and tried to avoid abrasive fabrics or tight jeans and things. Other than that, I think you just have to wait it out a few days!

They are much better now, but still a bit stubbly which is annoying. I assume it's because I have always shaved so not all the hair will have grown enough to be caught by the wax. =/
I'll be moving soon so I'll probably find somewhere closer to where I live next time.
And yes, red and blotchy as in the hair follicle.

Mine too. In the summer I end up shaving every other day. It's frustrating! =]

Haha I love winter for that exact reason. I'm in Australia at the moment though which means I have to maintain hair free legs... nooo!! x

I am tempted to shave this week as I have no money for a wax but I need to try on wedding dresses on Friday. Think I might just have to wear tights and hope for the best.
Oh and LL boo too you. You can't complain because I am jealous.
