So, I have never ever waxed or plucked my eyebrows and I definitely want to try. I'm sick of feeling like my eyes don't pop like they should if I was a little less bushy in the eyebrow area. Is anyone here an expert at plucking/waxing? Which is better? How can you lessen the pain? Best time of day to do it? Food to avoid beforehand (coffee, tea, etc)? List of steps? I'm willing to hear everything, I hate looking up how-to's and they all contradict or one says to use this brand but not that brand and some love at home work, some say only go pro, it's all just really confusing!
So, brilliant ladies and lads, show us your eyebrow plucking/waxing techniques!

The first time I did my eyebrows I had NO IDEA what I was doing and definitely over-plucked.
In terms of waxing, plucking or threading it is a personal choice. I wouldn't wax or thread myself but it can be fairly cheap to get it done at a salon. If you are wary I would recommend getting them professionally for the first time so that they can give you the shape you want and then you can just pluck out the strays at home as they grow back.
The best time to pluck is just after a nice hot shower when your pores are open. If you do want to do it yourself go slowly and only pluck one at a time. Make sure it is even on each side! Start off by only plucking the strays, like the ones under the eyebrow which aren't really part of the main brow. Same with the middle. And then work your way in pulling back after each pluck to gauge how it looks. Work with your natural shape, after all it is the shape which most suits your face!
Also, bushy eyebrows are IN. Many people fill theirs in to get a bushier look!

Another tip is to pull with the direction of the hair. So if the hair is laying flat against your face to the left, use the tweezers to pull the hair to the left, straight out of the pore. Don't try to pull it out away from your face or in the opposite direction, because it won't come out as easily.
Also you can try using aloe lotion to help with the pain/redness. Definitely don't try to pluck your eyebrows right before you have to go somewhere, because they WILL be red and puffy! At least in my experience.
I almost never go through the hassle, though. It's too painful for me, and my glasses kind of help hide my eyebrows.

Not gonna lie, haven't read the previous two replies. So I'm just gonna go ahead and offer some advice. I am a self-plucking lass and have never tried anything else because I haven't felt the need to. The first few times I had an ice cube on hand and just pressed it to my eyebrows before and after a pluck to numb the pain. But honestly the easiest way to make the pain less is just to do it frequently, because eventually the area will just get used to it. Also: do pluck in the direction of the hair and not against it. For best ways to know WHERE and HOW to pluck, I think it depends on the eyebrow shape and bushiness. If you're like me (natural arch but lots of eyebrow hairs in the middle and ends going quite low, also grow somewhat close to the middle) then my advice is to first pluck one VERY THIN LAYER off the entire bottom of your eyebrows, then another VERY, AND I MEAN VERY, THIN LAYER off the far sides on the bottom again. This will let a natural arch do its thing while getting rid of the bushier side. Also, doing the middle of your brows does not hurt as much as the other parts, so basically just go to town with the very center and do not pluck farther than the inner corner of your eyes lest you look a little odd. Hope this helps! I do mine roughly once or twice a week depending on what I prefer at that moment. If you have any details regarding what your brows look like naturally so I can help you out that'd be awesome!
