Because there wasn't any topics in this section yet...
I got the arm implant in November and two weeks ago (Tuesday 12th Feb) I got my first period on new meds.
And it is still going. It's really not that bad, its not so much a period as continual spotting. It's irritating because it is not heavy enough for a tampon so I don't really want to have a bath and it is getting in the way of sexy times. (He doesn't mind, but I do)
I have got a Doctors appointment a week tomorrow so I can talk it over then. But I'm not too worried because my research suggests that it is one of the things that can happen on the meds.
So, I just thought really, that we could have a communal moan about those periods that seem never ending.

I. FUCKING. HEAR YOU. AAUUUGGHHH.
I don't have long "periods," per se, but whenever I have to skip my period week of pills to avoid an immediate full period (either for important sex or vacations or something) then I end up a week later dealing with NASTY BROWN LEFTOVERS. Fucking hate that shit. Cannot express enough. And it always lasts forever! Sometimes I can get halfway through the new pack of pills before the damn lining stops flipping its shit and shedding like a flood. Absolutely awful. Bleh.
Which is why I'm glad that I've decided to go on the shot soon, after this pack is over and I take a month break (cause I went like three years with HBC and no break, whoops)

Yeah I hear that. I use to have that trouble when I was on the pill.
I haven't had a break from hormonal birth control in just over 4 years... is that bad?

Hm, well I don't know for sure, it's just what I've heard, but if you haven't had any adverse side affects then...? Hold on, I'm gonna check my BC instructions. Okay it didn't say anything but I'm almost certain I read somewhere that (on the pill at least) you should be taking a break every couple years or so, because being on the pill for a super long time, 10+ years, can leave you at risk for breast cancer. Second check: I went and read up a bit on the internet and it turns out it's a bit of an old wives' tale. Its not at all necessary but some find it beneficial. Huh! You learn something new everyday. I think I'll still check with my doctor about transitioning from one form to another, and whether i should take a break in between, but there you go!

I was so pissed off the other day because I thought that I was starting another long period but fortunately it was just two days of really light spotting. Thanks god.
